A small selection of the 600 photos I took on my trip to
No 1 Airship Construction Shed at Cardington,
Bedfordshire. This shed is now in dire need of repair (as
can be seen from the holes in the roof) but ironically is
perhaps more beautiful as a result. The shed was
orginally constucted in the 1920's and was used to build
a number of of airships, most notably the R101. The shed
is aproximatly 160ft high, 180ft wide and a tad over
800ft long - its huge. For more information see the
Airship Heritage
Trusts website.
